Feast of the Dormition of St. Mary — The end of the Dormition Fast and its Feast will be celebrated this Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to attend.
MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite on August 25th. A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth. All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
General Body Meeting — The half-yearly General Body meeting will take place next Sunday, August 19th after Holy Qurbana. Please come to the parish office to pick up documents for the meeting. Please remember to bring back the documents when you come to the General Body meeting next Sunday.

Sunday School parish level talent competitions will be held on September 9th after Holy Qurbana. Please give the name of the participants to the principal or the assistant principal.

MMVS Annual Conference — This year MMVS annual conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at St. Thomas Orthodox Church Philadelphia, Unruh Ave. The registration and the bus fare cost is $50. Those who interested in attending can contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Thomas, or Mrs. Usha Sam at your earliest convenience.
St. Mary’s West Sayville Perunal — St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, West Sayville will be celebrating their perunal August 17th & 18th (Friday and Saturday). All those who are available kindly make arrangements to attend. Please see the flyer posted on the parish website for more details.
Council of Indian Orthodox Churches Convention — The annual Council of Indian Orthodox Churches convention will take place at Our Lady of Snows Church on Sept. 14-16 at 6:30 pm. All those who are available during those days are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
St. John’s Orthodox Church, Bellerose Blood Drive — St. John’s Orthodox Church in Bellerose will be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, August 18th from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018, at The Greentree Country Club. We have Diocesan Council members here today, selling tickets for the event. Please the Secretary to buy tickets.

Agni: Ablaze for the Lord Middle School Camp — The Northeast American Diocese hosted a middle school camp from August 9-11 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. There were 38 participants from all over the diocese. During the camp, the students played games, made friends, and learned about Purification, Illumination, and Deification. We hope that we can have all of our middle school students participate in this great camp next year!

Altar Servers Meeting and Lunch – There will be an Altar Servers Meeting followed by fellowship lunch at a nearby restaurant on Sunday, April 22nd after service. All Altar Servers are requested to attend.

Area Wide OVBS – A combined OVBS for all parishes of the Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island area will be held this year on July 11th-13th. Pre-registration is being extended to April 15th. Please see the Principal/Asst. Principal for details.
Sunday School Teacher Conference/Training – Our church will be hosting a combined Teachers Conference/OVBS Teachers/Volunteers training. It will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 and we are requesting all teachers cooperation and encourage all teachers to attend the conference.
Area MGOCSM Event – The event will take place April 28th at St. Gregorios, Cherry Lane church. The theme of the event is Jesus Christ and the Secrets of the Church and the speaker will be Reverend Deacon Shawn Thomas. Contact Ms. Sonia Joseph or Mr. Joshua Mathew to register and for more details.
Evening Prayer —There will be special Lenten Evening Prayer at the church every Wednesday during Great Lent 6:30 PM. All are kindly requested to attend.
Confession — As we are now in the Lenten season, whoever wishes to do Holy Confession, kindly reach out to Achens as soon as possible. We highly suggest that you do not wait until the retreat day to do confession.
FOCUS Meeting — There will be a FOCUS Meeting this Friday, February 23rd at 7 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. George Palakkadan. A friendly reminder to bring your Shehimo prayer book and Beginning to Pray book.
MMVS Attendance Award — The MMVS of our parish would like to award Mrs. Elizabeth Sunny the MMVS Attendance Award, for attending and participating in every MMVS meeting for the past year.
MGOCSM Meeting — There will be an MGOCSM meeting held at the church on Friday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm. All MGOCSM members are requested to attend especially since this will be the MGOCSM’s first meeting of the year.
GROW One Day Conference —The 7th annual One-Day GROW Conference will be held on April 14th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at our church. It will be open to all women ages 13 and up. Registration is $15 online and $20 at the door so please try to register online at your earliest.
Education Day — This coming Saturday, February 24th there will be an Education Day for all the Sunday School students. This event is FREE of cost and is a great opportunity for the Sunday School children to enjoy fellowship with one another and also learn from this year’s theme which is taken from Matthew 6:34. All are asked to arrive by 1:30 pm so that we can start the day promptly and finish the activities in time for evening prayer.
STYL Basketball Tournament — This year’s STYL Basketball tournament will be held on Saturday, June 30th. There will be a STYL Basketball tournament meeting next Sunday after Sunday School. The tickets for the tournament will be inaugurated next week.
Youth Meeting — There will be a youth meeting at our church Friday, February 16th at 6:30 pm. This will be the first meeting of the year for the youth and we hope that all youth will be in attendance.

Nineveh Lent (3-Day Lent) — For the Lent, the parish will be having evening prayer on Monday 22nd and Tuesday, 23rd at 6:30 pm. To conclude the fast, on Wednesday, the 24th, we will be having Holy Qurbana starting with evening prayer at 6:30 pm.
FOCUS BQLI Meeting – special thanks to all the FOCUS & MGOCSM members to helped out with the BQLI area level FOCUS meeting. We had over 60 FOCUS members and their children from the Brooklyn, Queens & Long Island area.

MMVS Fasting Prayer – The weekly fasting prayer at church is cancelled for upcoming Friday, Nov. 24th, 2017.
HTRC/St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary Trip – The MGOCSM would like to thank all members who went on the trip to visit HTRC and St. Tikon’s Seminary. Twenty parish members participated in this event, and a special thanks to all those who drove. We encourage everyone to take the time to visit these spiritual centers of our faith.
MGOCSM & FOCUS Donation – The MGOCSM and FOCUS of the parish donated $20,000 and $5,000, respectively towards the Church Building Loan Repayment. We would like to thank all of the youth members, both past and present, who have contributed to fundraising initiatives such as the annual basketball tournament.
Baby Girl – Jeny and Shyni Koshy blessed with a baby girl Rianna Maria Koshy on Aug 11,2017. We welcomed the baby to church on Nov 5, 2017. Let us uphold the new born baby and her family in our prayers.
MMVS Quiz Competition – Congratulations to the ladies of our MMVS, who won 2nd place for the Annual Quiz Competition at the MMVS Competition that took place at HTRC.
Baby Boy Born – Mathew & Annie Thomas were blessed with a grandson, Nathan Samuel on October 11th.
