Kerala Flood Disaster Relief Fund — As all of you are now aware of the flooding that is taking place in India, we will be circulating a donation sheet for the flood relief fund in Kerala. Please contribute within your ability for this effort.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Festival — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of East Meadow is holding its annual Faith, Food & Fellowship Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1st from 10 am to 6 pm. They have invited our parish to attend the festival, and all who are interested are kindly asked to attend.
Back to School Retreat — The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/ Queens/ Long Island will be hosting a Back to School Retreat this Saturday, September 1st from 9:30 AM to 3 PM at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane. Elections for the area level committee will also take place at this event so all youth are especially encouraged to attend.
Bake Sale Flood Relief Fund — The MMVS and MGOCSM will be hosting a bake sale next Sunday after service to help raise funds for the Kerala Flood Relief effort. If you are interested in making an item for the sale please reach out to Mrs. Mary Varghese or Ms. Mariel Mathew.
MGOCSM Meeting — The next youth meeting will be held on Friday, September 7th at 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Jose Varghese. All youth members are kindly requested to attend.
Holy Qurbana for the Feasts of the Birth of St. Mary and Holy Cross — We will be conducting the Feast of the Birth of the Theotokos on Saturday, September 8th at 8:00 am and the Feast of the Holy Cross on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend these liturgical services.
MMVS Annual Conference — The MMVS annual conference will be taking place in Philadelphia this year. Those who interested in attending can contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Thomas, or Mrs. Usha Sam by today itself. Council of Indian Orthodox Churches Convention — The annual Council of Indian Orthodox Churches convention will take place at Our Lady of Snows Church on Sept. 14-16 at 6:30 pm. All those who are available during those days are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
Female Cantors Group — If any females who wish to participate in the female cantors group, kindly reach out to the Achens as soon as possible.
MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite next Saturday, August 25th. A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth. All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
Lancaster Trip — The trip to Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster will be this Tuesday, August 21st. Breakfast will be provided at the church and all participants are asked to arrive at church no later than 7:30 in the morning so that we may leave on time. Everyone is also encouraged to wear the maroon church t-shirt. As noted earlier, fees collected did not include the cost of lunch and so all are kindly reminded to bring either cash or credit with them.

School Supply Drive — As the new school year is about to begin, the MGOCSM will be collecting school supplies for children in need in accordance with the Glen Cove Youth Bureau. Kindly place any supplies for donation in the box downstairs next week.

Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Episcopal Silver Jubilee banquet has been postponed till further notice, as Thirumeni has said that, at this time of suffering in Kerala it is not an appropriate time for celebration.

Feast of the Dormition of St. Mary — The end of the Dormition Fast and its Feast will be celebrated this Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to attend.

Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018, at The Greentree Country Club. We have Diocesan Council members here today, selling tickets for the event. Please the Secretary to buy tickets.

Agni: Ablaze for the Lord Middle School Camp — The Northeast American Diocese hosted a middle school camp from August 9-11 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. There were 38 participants from all over the diocese. During the camp, the students played games, made friends, and learned about Purification, Illumination, and Deification. We hope that we can have all of our middle school students participate in this great camp next year!

Area Wide OVBS – A combined OVBS for all parishes of the Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island area will be held this year on July 11th-13th. Pre-registration is being extended to April 15th. Please see the Principal/Asst. Principal for details.
Sunday School Teacher Conference/Training – Our church will be hosting a combined Teachers Conference/OVBS Teachers/Volunteers training. It will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 and we are requesting all teachers cooperation and encourage all teachers to attend the conference.
Area MGOCSM Event – The event will take place April 28th at St. Gregorios, Cherry Lane church. The theme of the event is Jesus Christ and the Secrets of the Church and the speaker will be Reverend Deacon Shawn Thomas. Contact Ms. Sonia Joseph or Mr. Joshua Mathew to register and for more details.
Evening Prayer —There will be special Lenten Evening Prayer at the church every Wednesday during Great Lent 6:30 PM. All are kindly requested to attend.
Confession — As we are now in the Lenten season, whoever wishes to do Holy Confession, kindly reach out to Achens as soon as possible. We highly suggest that you do not wait until the retreat day to do confession.
FOCUS Meeting — There will be a FOCUS Meeting this Friday, February 23rd at 7 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. George Palakkadan. A friendly reminder to bring your Shehimo prayer book and Beginning to Pray book.
MMVS Attendance Award — The MMVS of our parish would like to award Mrs. Elizabeth Sunny the MMVS Attendance Award, for attending and participating in every MMVS meeting for the past year.
MGOCSM Meeting — There will be an MGOCSM meeting held at the church on Friday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm. All MGOCSM members are requested to attend especially since this will be the MGOCSM’s first meeting of the year.
GROW One Day Conference —The 7th annual One-Day GROW Conference will be held on April 14th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at our church. It will be open to all women ages 13 and up. Registration is $15 online and $20 at the door so please try to register online at your earliest.
Education Day — This coming Saturday, February 24th there will be an Education Day for all the Sunday School students. This event is FREE of cost and is a great opportunity for the Sunday School children to enjoy fellowship with one another and also learn from this year’s theme which is taken from Matthew 6:34. All are asked to arrive by 1:30 pm so that we can start the day promptly and finish the activities in time for evening prayer.
STYL Basketball Tournament — This year’s STYL Basketball tournament will be held on Saturday, June 30th. There will be a STYL Basketball tournament meeting next Sunday after Sunday School. The tickets for the tournament will be inaugurated next week.
Youth Meeting — There will be a youth meeting at our church Friday, February 16th at 6:30 pm. This will be the first meeting of the year for the youth and we hope that all youth will be in attendance.

Nineveh Lent (3-Day Lent) — For the Lent, the parish will be having evening prayer on Monday 22nd and Tuesday, 23rd at 6:30 pm. To conclude the fast, on Wednesday, the 24th, we will be having Holy Qurbana starting with evening prayer at 6:30 pm.
FOCUS BQLI Meeting – special thanks to all the FOCUS & MGOCSM members to helped out with the BQLI area level FOCUS meeting. We had over 60 FOCUS members and their children from the Brooklyn, Queens & Long Island area.
