Weekly Announcements – 04/29/2018

  1. Feast of St. George – We will be celebrating the Feast of St. George is next Sunday, May 6th. Various members have already offered as nercha, appam & curry. If anyone else wishes to offer a donation please see the Treasurer.
  2. Feast of Ascension – we will be celebrating the Feast of Ascension on Wednesday, May 9th. Evening Prayer will start at 6:30PM, followed by Holy Qurbana.
  3. Area FOCUS Fellowship – On Friday, May 4th we will be hosting the a meeting of the areawide FOCUS at St. Gregorios Elmont. The meeting will be from 6:30pm-9:30pm.  Please see the flyer for more details.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS — 04/15/2018

  1. MGOCSM/ FOCUS Meeting — There will be a combined MGOCSM and FOCUS meeting on Friday, April 27th, 5:30 PM at the Aramana. There will be a Question and Answer session with the Metropolitan followed by the Holy Qurbono series. All MGOCSM and FOCUS members are requested to attend.
  2. Basketball Tournament Meeting — The next basketball tournament meeting will be held on Sunday, April 22nd after Sunday School.
  3. Area MGOCSM Event — On April 28th there will be an MGOCSM areawide event at Cherry Lane church from 2-6 pm. The theme is “Jesus Christ and the Secrets of the Church” and the main speaker will be Rev. Dn. Shawn Thomas.   4. Area Wide OVBS — A combined OVBS for all parishes of the Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island area will be held this year on July 11th-13th. Pre-registration is being extended to today, April 15th, and will cost $35.
    • Theme Verse: “God Molds Us.” (Isaiah 64:8)
    • Venue: Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church 92-96 220th Street Queen
  5. Sunday School Teacher Conference/Training — Our church will be hosting a combined Teachers Conference/OVBS Teachers/Volunteers training next Saturday, April 21st, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
    • Conference Theme: “The role of a Sunday School Teacher in molding our children in Orthodox faith and praxis” based on Ephesians 4:11 “
    • All teachers and youth members are requested to attend and participate.
  6. N.E. American Diocese Summer Camp for Middle School Children — The Northeast American Diocese is hosting its first ever Summer Camp for Middle School Children (ages 10-14).  The theme of the camp will be “Agni: Ablaze for the Lord” and the Verse: taken from St. Luke 12:49 – “I have come to set the world on fire”.
    • The camp will be held at HTRC from Thursday, August 9th – Saturday, August 11th. The registration fee will be $100 per child. Please see the Sunday School Principal or Assistant Principal for details.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 04/08/2018

  1. GROW Conference – The annual GROW One Day conference will be hosted at our church this year on Saturday, April 14th, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Registration is $15 online and $20 at the door so kindly register online at your earliest.   2. Altar Servers Meeting and Lunch – There will be an Altar Servers Meeting followed by fellowship lunch at a nearby restaurant on Sunday, April 22nd after service. All Altar Servers are requested to attend.
  3. Sunday School Announcements
    1. Area Wide OVBS – A combined OVBS for all parishes of the Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island area will be held this year on July 11th-13th. Pre-registration is being extended to April 15th. Please see the Principal/Asst. Principal for details.
    2. Sunday School Teacher Conference/Training – Our church will be hosting a combined Teachers Conference/OVBS Teachers/Volunteers training. It will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 and we are requesting all teachers cooperation and encourage all teachers to attend the conference.
  4. Area MGOCSM Event – The event will take place April 28th at St. Gregorios, Cherry Lane church. The theme of the event is Jesus Christ and the Secrets of the Church and the speaker will be Reverend Deacon Shawn Thomas. Weekly Announcements – 03/18/2018

  1. FOCUS Meeting – the next FOCUS meeting will be held on the coming Friday, March 23rd at 7pm at the residence of Sinu and Giby Jacob. All FOCUS members are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Parish Lenten Retreat: This year’s parish Lenten Retreat will be held on Saturday, March 24th. Confession will begin at 10am. The retreat message will be given at 3:00pm by Rev. Fr. Sujit Thomas. All are kindly requested to attend.
  3. Holy Week Donation – All members are kindly requested to make a donation of $100 to help meet the expenses for Holy Week. Kindly give your donation to the Treasurer as soon as possible. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Thottathil for donating the palm leaves for Palm Sunday and Mr. Chacko Koyikalathu for donating incense and charcoal for Holy Week.
  4. Holy Week Schedule – Please see the schedule below for all services taking place during Holy Week.
  5. Good Friday Refreshments – Thank you everyone that already signed up to donate refreshments on Good Friday.  A few more items are needed, so kindly see the Secretary after service if you wish to donate refreshments.
  6. 2018 OVBS – combined OVBS for the ten Indian Orthodox Parishes of the Queens-Long Island-Brooklyn Area will be held this year at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church School on July 11, 12 & 13 (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. All children between the ages of 4 and 16 are invited to attend.  The flyer will be posted on the website.
  7. Qurbana Books – we have received the Qurbana Kramam’s from the printers.  Please pick up your personal copies in the basement.
  8. Handicap Parking Spots – just friendly a reminder that only people with handicap tags should park in the handicap spots in our parking lot. Please be considerate as there are some people that really need those spots, so even if you have a handicap tag but are able to park in regular spots please do so.
  9. Passing of Mrs. Aleyama Joseph Puthuveettil – it is with sadness we wish to inform you of the passing of Mrs. Aleyama Joseph Puthuveettil, the grandmother of Mrs. Mini Jacob, wife of Sijo Jacob.  Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.

Weekly Announcements – 03/11/2018

  1. FOCUS Meeting – the next FOCUS meeting will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 7pm at the residence of Sinu and Giby Jacob. All FOCUS members are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Youth Meeting– There will be an MGOCSM meeting this Friday March 16th at 6:30 pm at the residence of Dr. Thomas Mathew and family: 3 Parkview Drive, Jericho NY. All youth members are encouraged to attend.

  7. Lancaster Trip– This year we will be arranging a church trip to the Sight & Sound theater in Lancaster on Tuesday August 21st. We will be traveling together from the church to see their new production, titled Jesus. The cost, including bus fee and show ticket, is $94 for adults and $64 for children. Please see Emily George for more information and to reserve your seat.
  8. Bench – Special thanks to Mr. T.V Varghese for donating the bench in the lobby.

Weekly Announcements – 03/04/2018

  1. Evening Prayer – A friendly reminder that we will be having special lenten Evening Prayers at the church every Wednesday during Great Lent 6:30PM. All are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Confession – As it is the lenten season, whoever wishes to do Holy Confession, kindly reach out to Achens as soon as possible. We request that you do not wait till the retreat day to do confession.
  3. Mid-Lent Service: The Mid-lent service will be held this Tuesday, March 6th at 6:30pm. All are kindly requested to attend. A friendly reminder to those who are planning to take Holy Qurbana to fast at least 6 hours prior to receiving Holy Qurbana.  
  4. Holy Week Song Practice: There will be Holy Week song practice held Sunday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm at the Church. Whoever is interested to learn the hymns of Holy Week are requested to attend.

Weekly Announcements – 02/18/2018

  1. Evening Prayer — There will be special Lenten Evening Prayer at the church every Wednesday during Great Lent 6:30 PM. All are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Confession — As we are now in the Lenten season, whoever wishes to do Holy Confession, kindly reach out to Achens as soon as possible. We highly suggest that you do not wait until the retreat day to do confession.
  3. FOCUS Meeting — There will be a FOCUS Meeting this Friday, February 23rd at 7 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. George Palakkadan. A friendly reminder to bring your Shehimo prayer book and Beginning to Pray book.
  4. MMVS Attendance Award — The MMVS of our parish would like to award Mrs. Elizabeth Sunny the MMVS Attendance Award, for attending and participating in every MMVS meeting for the past year.
  5. MGOCSM Meeting — There will be an MGOCSM meeting held at the church on Friday, March 2nd at 6:30 pm. All MGOCSM members are requested to attend especially since this will be the MGOCSM’s first meeting of the year.
  6. GROW One Day Conference — The 7th annual One-Day GROW Conference will be held on April 14th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at our church. It will be open to all women ages 13 and up. Registration is $15 online and $20 at the door so please try to register online at your earliest.
  7. Education Day — This coming Saturday, February 24th there will be an Education Day for all the Sunday School students. This event is FREE of cost and is a great opportunity for the Sunday School children to enjoy fellowship with one another and also learn from this year’s theme which is taken from Matthew 6:34. All are asked to arrive by 1:30 pm so that we can start the day promptly and finish the activities in time for evening prayer.
  8. STYL Basketball Tournament — This year’s STYL Basketball tournament will be held on Saturday, June 30th. There will be a STYL Basketball tournament meeting next Sunday after Sunday School. The tickets for the tournament will be inaugurated next week.

Weekly Announcements – 02/11/2018

  1. Youth Meeting– The Youth meeting for this Friday, February 16th is being postponed and a new date will be announced soon.
  2. MGOCSM Lenten Retreat– The MGOCSM of the Brooklyn/Queens/Long Island area is hosting a Lenten Retreat on Saturday February 17th from 9AM- 1:30 PM at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane. The theme for this event is Jesus and the Wooden Cross and the main speaker will be Seminarian Amal Punnoose. Registration is $10 and all youth are encouraged to attend.
  3. Education Day– There will be an Education Day for all the Sunday School students on Saturday February 24th. All are asked to arrive by 1:30 pm so that we can start the day promptly and finish the activities in time for evening prayer.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 01/21/2018

  1. Nineveh Lent (3-Day Lent) — For the Lent, the parish will be having evening prayer on Monday 22nd and Tuesday, 23rd at 6:30 pm. To conclude the fast, on Wednesday, the 24th, we will be having Holy Qurbana starting with evening prayer at 6:30 pm.
  2. FOCUS BQLI Meeting – special thanks to all the FOCUS & MGOCSM members to helped out with the BQLI area level FOCUS meeting.  We had over 60 FOCUS members and their children from the Brooklyn, Queens & Long Island area.
  3. MMVS 3-Day Camp — The MMVS will be having the three-day camp at HTRC on May 25 to May 27, 2018. The deadline for the registration is Jan 31st. Anyone who is interested please contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Stephen or Mrs. Rosemary Yohannan.
  4. Talent Show — The Talent Show program has been CANCELLED for Friday, January 26th, 2018.
  5. MGOCSM Lenten Retreat — The MGOCSM of the BQLI area will be hosting a Lenten Retreat on Saturday, February 17th from 9 AM- 1:30 PM at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane. Weekly Announcements – 01/14/2018

  1. Area FOCUS Fellowship – On Friday, January 19th we will be hosting the a meeting of the areawide  FOCUS at our church.  The meeting will be from 6:30pm-9:30pm (See Flyer)
  2. Leadership Conference – This year’s combined annual diocesan Leadership Conference will be in Atlanta.  The camp committee are selling 2018 calendars and bracelets for $10 to raise funds.  If you are interested in purchasing them please speak to Ms. Sonia Joseph.
  3. Nineveh Lent (3-Day Lent) – the Parish will be having evening prayer on Monday 22nd and Tuesday, 23rd at 6:30pm. On Wednesday, the 24th we will be having Holy Qurbana starting with evening prayer at 6:30pm.
  4. Talent Show – Our church will be hosting the annual talent show on Friday January 26th at 6:30pm in our auditorium. Everyone is encouraged to participate. Please submit your programs to the Sunday School principal or Ms. Emily Georgekutty by Sunday the 21st, the latest.
  5. Jeny & Shyni Koshy – will be moving to Dallas later this week. We wish the family all the best and will keep them in our prayers.
