Kerala Flood Disaster Relief Fund — As all of you are now aware of the flooding that is taking place in India, we will be circulating a donation sheet for the flood relief fund in Kerala. Please contribute within your ability for this effort.
Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Festival — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of East Meadow is holding its annual Faith, Food & Fellowship Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1st from 10 am to 6 pm. They have invited our parish to attend the festival, and all who are interested are kindly asked to attend.
Back to School Retreat — The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/ Queens/ Long Island will be hosting a Back to School Retreat this Saturday, September 1st from 9:30 AM to 3 PM at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane. Registration is $10 and can be completed online (www.tinyurl.com/BTSchool2018). Elections for the area level committee will also take place at this event so all youth are especially encouraged to attend.
Bake Sale Flood Relief Fund — The MMVS and MGOCSM will be hosting a bake sale next Sunday after service to help raise funds for the Kerala Flood Relief effort. If you are interested in making an item for the sale please reach out to Mrs. Mary Varghese or Ms. Mariel Mathew.
MGOCSM Meeting — The next youth meeting will be held on Friday, September 7th at 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Jose Varghese. All youth members are kindly requested to attend.
Holy Qurbana for the Feasts of the Birth of St. Mary and Holy Cross — We will be conducting the Feast of the Birth of the Theotokos on Saturday, September 8th at 8:00 am and the Feast of the Holy Cross on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend these liturgical services.
MMVS Annual Conference — The MMVS annual conference will be taking place in Philadelphia this year. Those who interested in attending can contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Thomas, or Mrs. Usha Sam by today itself. Council of Indian Orthodox Churches Convention — The annual Council of Indian Orthodox Churches convention will take place at Our Lady of Snows Church on Sept. 14-16 at 6:30 pm. All those who are available during those days are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
Female Cantors Group — If any females who wish to participate in the female cantors group, kindly reach out to the Achens as soon as possible.
MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite next Saturday, August 25th. A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth. All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
Lancaster Trip — The trip to Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster will be this Tuesday, August 21st. Breakfast will be provided at the church and all participants are asked to arrive at church no later than 7:30 in the morning so that we may leave on time. Everyone is also encouraged to wear the maroon church t-shirt. As noted earlier, fees collected did not include the cost of lunch and so all are kindly reminded to bring either cash or credit with them.

School Supply Drive — As the new school year is about to begin, the MGOCSM will be collecting school supplies for children in need in accordance with the Glen Cove Youth Bureau. Kindly place any supplies for donation in the box downstairs next week.

Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Episcopal Silver Jubilee banquet has been postponed till further notice, as Thirumeni has said that, at this time of suffering in Kerala it is not an appropriate time for celebration.

Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018, at The Greentree Country Club. We have Diocesan Council members here today, selling tickets for the event. Agni: Ablaze for the Lord Middle School Camp — The Northeast American Diocese hosted a middle school camp from August 9-11 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. There were 38 participants from all over the diocese. During the camp, the students played games, made friends, and learned about Purification, Illumination, and Deification. We hope that we can have all of our middle school students participate in this great camp next year!

Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Greentree Country Club, located at 538 Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10805 at 5pm. His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan, will preside over the celebrations. Tickets are $100 per person if you wish to reserve seats. Esteemed leaders from the ecumenical community will also be present on this joyous occasion. BQLI Martura – The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/Queens/LI will be hosting the fourth annual Martura summer conference at this church on August 10th & 11th from 9:30AM to 5PM. As part of a charity activity that will take place at the conference, there is a bake sale in the auditorium today after service.

Softball tournament — Last Sunday our church softball team won first place in the St. John’s Softball League. They have been traveling for games as part of this tournament for many weeks and this is the third year they have won.

2018 Parish Picnic – Yesterday we held our annual picnic at Belmont Lake State Park. It was a great day of fellowship, fun, and food. Special thanks to Mr. Arun Joseph, Ms. Emily George, Mr. Manoj Varghese and everyone who spent hours preparing and cooking the food and making arrangements so that we could all get together and enjoy one another’s company.

Passing of Mr. K.O. Thomas – With great sadness we regret to inform of the passing of Mr. K.O. Thomas, the father of Mr. Thomas K. Thomas. The funeral service will be conducted in India. Please keep the bereaving family in your prayers.

Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul – Holy Qurbana for the end of the fast and to celebrate the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul will be held on Thursday, June 28th at 6:30 pm.
Basketball Tournament – The STYL Presents: Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament is coming up next Saturday at Island Garden Gym. As every year, the success of this tournament is due to the combined efforts of not only the youth and FOCUS, but also the parents, so the presence and support of all church members are kindly requested.
Tournament Meeting – The day before the tournament, Friday, June 29th, there will be a meeting at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Cherian Abraham at 7 pm. This will be our last meeting before the actual tournament so it is especially important that all youth members make an effort to attend.
STYL BBQ – As every year, we will be having a youth barbecue the day after the tournament. This year it will be at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Juby Thomas on Sunday, July 1st at 2 pm.
Parish Perunal – Our Parish Perunal will be held on Friday, July 6th and Saturday, July 7th. Friday evening we will be having evening prayer followed by a devotional address. Saturday morning at 8 am we will begin morning prayer followed by Holy Qurbana. All are requested to attend.
