Weekly Announcements – 10/7/2018

  1. CROP Hunger Walk — We are one week away from this year’s CROP Hunger walk which will be held on Saturday, October 13th, 10 AM, at Eisenhower Park. If you are available, please join the walk in support of fighting world hunger. You can also make a donation online. Please visit our team page or see the flier on the bulletin for more information.

  2. MGOCSM meeting — The next youth meeting will be held on next Friday, October 12th, 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Shibu & Sumini Thomas. All youth members are requested to attend.

  3. Metropolitan’s Silver Jubilee — The Banquet we had planned to honor our Nicholovos Thirumeni’s Episcopal Jubilee was postponed. The new date is Saturday, November 17th (11 am – 3 pm). His Holiness Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II will bless the occasion. It will also be attended by dignitaries from our sister churches. Tickets for the banquet are $100. To purchase a ticket please contact the Secretary.

  4. Male Cantors Group — The parish will be starting a male cantors group. If any men or boys wish to participate please submit your name in the office.

  5. Radiant Heat Project — If anyone has pledged or wants to pledge donations for the Radiant Heat Project, please see the Treasurer.

Weekly Announcements — 09/30/2018

  1. CROP Hunger Walk — We are less than 2 weeks away from this year’s CROP Hunger walk which will be held on Saturday, October 13th, 10 AM, at Eisenhower Park. Please visit our team page to join the team or make a donation online. All of the money raised goes to the Church World Services who work locally and around the globe to battle hunger. They will also be providing aid to those recently affected by Hurricane Florence. For more information, please see the flyer posted on the bulletin downstairs.
  2. Paint Night —The FOCUS and MGOCSM will be hosting a paint night in the auditorium this Friday, October 5th at 7 pm. Participants can either paint a large canvas for $20, small canvas for $10, or a craft pumpkin for $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the CROP walk. There are limited supplies so please register online or see Ms. Leslie Babukutty as soon as possible.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 09/23/2018

  1. Kerala Flood Disaster Relief Fund — Anyone that has signed up for the Kerala Flood Relief effort see the Treasurer to give your contribution, the list of contributions is posted downstairs. We will be sending all the money collected tomorrow.
  2. MMVS and MGOCSM donations — Through the bake sale held three weeks ago, the MMVS was able to raise $870 for the Kerala relief fund and the MGOCSM collected $200. Special thanks to everyone who took the time to make food for the sale and also to those who supported these efforts.

Weekly Announcements – 09/09/2018

  1. Wedding Announcement — Dr. Joel Abraham, son of Mr. Kuriakose & Mrs. Daisy Abraham, residing in New Hyde Park, NY, will be getting married to Dr. Fateema Islam residing in Manhattan, NY on Saturday, Sept 15th, 2018 at St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church, Levittown, NY.

  4. Council of Indian Orthodox Churches Convention — The annual Council of Indian Orthodox Churches convention will take place at Our Lady of Snows Church on Sept. 14-16 at 6:30 pm.  All those who are available during those days are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
  5. MMVS Annual Conference — The MMVS annual conference will be taking place in Philadelphia this year. Please give your names to reserve a spot on the bus.
  6. CROP walk — We will be participating in the 9th annual CROP Hunger walk, to support the Church World Service’s initiative to end hunger, on October 13th, 10 AM, at Eisenhower Park.   8. School Supply Drive — Special thanks to all those who supported the school supply drive. Through your efforts and donations, we were able to give over 270 items to the Glen Cove Youth Bureau to be used by children in need this school year.

    1. Sunday School parish level talent competitions will be held today after Holy Qurbana.
    2. Sunday School area level competition will be held on September 22nd Saturday at St. Mary’s West Sayville church.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS — 08/26/2018

  1. Kerala Flood Disaster Relief Fund — As all of you are now aware of the flooding that is taking place in India, we will be circulating a donation sheet for the flood relief fund in Kerala. Please contribute within your ability for this effort.
  2. Holy Trinity Orthodox Church Festival — Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of East Meadow is holding its annual Faith, Food & Fellowship Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1st from 10 am to 6 pm.  They have invited our parish to attend the festival, and all who are interested are kindly asked to attend.
  3. Back to School Retreat — The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/ Queens/ Long Island will be hosting a Back to School Retreat this Saturday, September 1st from 9:30 AM to 3 PM at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane. Registration is $10 and can be completed online (www.tinyurl.com/BTSchool2018). Elections for the area level committee will also take place at this event so all youth are especially encouraged to attend.
  4. Bake Sale Flood Relief Fund — The MMVS and MGOCSM will be hosting a bake sale next Sunday after service to help raise funds for the Kerala Flood Relief effort. If you are interested in making an item for the sale please reach out to Mrs. Mary Varghese or Ms. Mariel Mathew.

Weekly Announcements – 08/19/2018

  1. MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite next Saturday, August 25th.  A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth.  All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
  2. Lancaster Trip — The trip to Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster will be this Tuesday, August 21st. Breakfast will be provided at the church and all participants are asked to arrive at church no later than 7:30 in the morning so that we may leave on time. Everyone is also encouraged to wear the maroon church t-shirt. As noted earlier, fees collected did not include the cost of lunch and so all are kindly reminded to bring either cash or credit with them.
  3. MMVS Annual Conference — The MMVS annual conference will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2018, at St. Thomas Orthodox Church Philadelphia, Unruh Ave. The registration and the bus fare is $50. Those who interested in attending can contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Thomas, or Mrs. Usha Sam as soon as possible.  The bus to Philadelphia is being booked by the end of this month, so please give your names in advance if you want to reserve a spot on the bus.
  4. Back to School Retreat — The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/ Queens/ Long Island will be hosting a Back to School Retreat on Saturday, September 1st from 9:30 AM to 3 PM led by Seminarian Royce Mathew at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Cherry Lane. WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS — 08/12/2018

  1. Feast of the Dormition of St. Mary — The end of the Dormition Fast and its Feast will be celebrated this Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to attend.
  2. MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite on August 25th.  A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth.  All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
  3. General Body Meeting — The half-yearly General Body meeting will take place next  Sunday, August 19th after Holy Qurbana. Please come to the parish office to pick up documents for the meeting.  Please remember to bring back the documents when you come to the General Body meeting next Sunday.

  8. St. John’s Orthodox Church, Bellerose Blood Drive — St. John’s Orthodox Church in Bellerose will be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, August 18th from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.   9. Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018, at The Greentree Country Club. We have Diocesan Council members here today, selling tickets for the event.  Please the Secretary to buy tickets.

  11. Agni: Ablaze for the Lord Middle School Camp — The Northeast American Diocese hosted a middle school camp from August 9-11 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. There were 38 participants from all over the diocese. During the camp, the students played games, made friends, and learned about Purification, Illumination, and Deification. We hope that we can have all of our middle school students participate in this great camp next year!

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 08/05/2018

  1. Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Greentree Country Club, located at 538 Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10805 at 5pm. His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan, will preside over the celebrations. Tickets are $100 per person if you wish to reserve seats. Esteemed leaders from the ecumenical community will also be present on this joyous occasion.   5. BQLI FOCUS Fellowship — On Friday, August 10th there will be a meeting of the areawide FOCUS at St. Basil, Franklin Square.  The meeting will be from 7pm-9pm. Please see the flyer on the website for more details.
  6. BQLI Martura – The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/Queens/LI will be hosting the fourth annual Martura summer conference at this church on August 10th & 11th from 9:30AM to 5PM. Registration is $10 for one day and $15 for both days and may be completed online (at: tinyurl.com/Martura2018). As part of a charity activity that will take place at the conference, there is a bake sale in the auditorium today after service.

  9. Softball tournament — Last Sunday our church softball team won first place in the St. John’s Softball League. They have been traveling for games as part of this tournament for many weeks and this is the third year they have won.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 07/22/2018

  1. Lancaster Trip – Just a friendly reminder that money for the Lancaster trip is due no later than next Sunday, July 29th. If you previously reserved a seat and no longer will be able to attend, please let Emily George know at your earliest so that those on the waitlist may have a chance.

  2. Martura – The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/Queens/LI will be hosting the fourth annual Martura summer conference at this church on August 10th & 11th from 9:30AM to 5PM. The main speaker for this year’s conference is Rev. Fr. Geevarghese John. Registration is $10 for one day and $15 for both days and may be completed online at: tinyurl.com/Martura2018. Since the conference will be hosted at this parish, all MGOCSM members are especially encouraged to attend. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the event please see Mr. Joshua Mathew or Ms. Sonia Joseph.

  3. Sunday School – Here are the assigned competition church level winners.   4. Monthly Committee Meeting – There will be the monthly scheduled committee meeting next Sunday, after church. All committee members are kindly requested to attend.

  5. Episcopal Visit – Next Sunday, our Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos will be conducting Holy Qurbana.
