Weekly Announcements – 10/16/16

  1. Parumala Perunal – will be celebrated this year on November 2nd (Wednesday), and it commemorates the memorial of Saint Geevarghese Mar Gregorios, also known as Parumala Thirumeni.  We will be having a special potluck lunch at the church on Sunday, November 6th.  Please see the bulletin board in the parish hall for which items to bring, and coordinate with the Secretary or Treasurer on what dishes you would like to bring.
  2. The MMVS Annual Conference – was held yesterday at St. Thomas Orthodox Church at Unruh Ave, Philadelphia. Congratulations to our MMVS who won third place in the Bible Quiz.

MMVS Bible Quiz – 3rd Place Winners

The MMVS of St. Thomas Malankara Orthodox Church, Long Island won 3rd Place in the MMVS Annual Conference Bible Quiz. The conference was held at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Philadelphia. Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Bible Quiz!

Weekly Announcements – 10/9/16

1. Altar Servers Meeting – will be postponed to another Sunday. The date will be determined soon.

2. MGOCSM Faith Study – series will be held on Friday, October 14th at 6:30pm. All MGOCSM members are requested to attend.

3. MMVS Annual Conference – this year’s annual conference will be held at St. Thomas Orthodox Church at Unruh Ave, Philadelphia. All members who have registered to attend the conference, please be at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane by 6am. Bus leaves at 6:15am.

4. Anil John – As we commemorate 1 year memorial of Anil John, we will be going to the Oakwood Cemetery right after service to offer incense and prayers. 

5. Roshini Mathew – Wake for Roshni Mathew will be held today at the parish from 3pm-8:30pm, the 2nd and the 3rd service will be held tonight. The final service will be held tomorrow at 8:30am-10:30am; followed by the service at the burial site at All Saints Cemetery in Great Neck.

Passing of Mrs. Roshni M. Mathew 

On behalf of all the members of St. Thomas, Long Island we would like to announce the passing of one of our loving members, Mrs. Roshni M. Mathew. Roshni was an active member of the parish among the MGOCSM & FOCUS. She is survived by her husband Detective Philip Mathew and son Christian.

Weekly Announcements – 10/2/2016

  1. Area Sunday School Competitions – were held this weekend. Special thanks to all the volunteers, the youth, the parents and all those who were present to show their support and help on both Friday and Saturday.
    • Congratulations to Sonia Joseph for winning 1st Prize for English Solo Song competition.
  2. MMVS Quiz Review – on Saturday, October 8th, The area Marth Mariam Vanitha Samajam will be hosting a question and answer Review Session at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Cherry Lane from 10am-12pm. This will be in preparation for the Bible Quiz Competition that will be held at the MMVS Annual Conference on October 15th.
  3. Altar Servers Meeting – will be held next Sunday after refreshments.
  4. FOCUS Meeting – will be held this Friday, October 7th at 7pm at the Residence of Mr. & Mrs. Alex and Tigi Abraham. All FOCUS members are requested to attend. Kindly bring your Sheehimo Books for evening prayer.
  5. MGOCSM Faith Study – series will be held on Friday, October 14th at 6:30pm.

Weekly Annoucements – 9/25/16

  1. The MMVS Bible study will be postponed to another week because of the parish committee meeting.
  2. The Parish General Body meeting will be held next Sunday, October 2nd,  after refreshments. All eligible members are requested to attend.
  3. Our Next MGOCSM Faith Study series will be held on Friday, October 14th at 6:30pm.
  4. This Friday, September 30th , the area MGOCSM is having a youth night (TGILF) at St. Basil’s Franklin Square from 7pm-9pm.
  5. MGOCSM Back to School retreat is cancelled (Scheduled for Oct 15). Oct 28th Friday evening: Fall Retreat. Details to follow
  6. Altar Servers Meeting will be held on Sunday, October 9th after refreshments.
  7. FOCUS Meeting will be held on Friday, October 7th at 7pm.
  8. Sunday School Area Competition will be held this Saturday, October 1st . All youth and FOCUS are requested to come Friday night (from 5pm onwards) and Saturday (7am- registration starts at 7:30am).

  1. MGOCSM meeting – Saturday, September 24th at 4:30pm at Church
  2. Next MMVS Bible study will be held next Sunday, September 25th, after refreshments.

Weekly Announcements – 9/11/16

  1. Feast of the Holy Cross (Sleeba Perunal) – On Tuesday, September 13th, we will be celebrating the feast of the Holy Cross. Evening prayer will begin at 6:30pm followed by Holy Qurbana.
  2. MMVS Bible Study – There will be an Area wide Bible Study for the MMVS at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Elmont on September 17 @ 9am.  All MMVS members are encouraged to attend.
  3. Onam Lunch (Sadyha) – On Sept 25th we will be having a traditional Onam Sadyha after service.  All members are asked to bring an item of your choice from the list publised on the bulletin board in the parish hall.
