- Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018 at The Greentree Country Club, located at 538 Davenport Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10805 at 5pm. His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East & Malankara Metropolitan, will preside over the celebrations. Tickets are $100 per person if you wish to reserve seats. - BQLI FOCUS Fellowship — On Friday, August 10th there will be a meeting of the areawide FOCUS at St. Basil, Franklin Square. The meeting will be from 7pm-9pm. Please see the flyer on the website for more details.

- General Body Meeting — The half-yearly General Body meeting will take place on Sunday, August 19th after Holy Qurbana.
Softball tournament — Last Sunday our church softball team won first place in the St. John’s Softball League. They have been traveling for games as part of this tournament for many weeks and this is the third year they have won.

- Martura 2018 – The MGOCSM of Brooklyn/Queens/LI will be hosting the fourth annual Martura summer conference at this church on August 10th & 11th from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. Registration is $10 for one day and $15 for both days and may be completed online (at tinyurl.com/Martura2018). As part of a charity activity that will take place at the conference, there will be a bake sale in the auditorium after service next Sunday. If you would like to make something for the sale please see Ms. Ruth Abraham or Ms. Sonia Joseph.
- Monthly Committee Meeting – The monthly scheduled committee meeting has been postponed till next week. Details will be provided at a later time.
- Holy Dormition Fast – As we enter the month of August, we also enter into the fast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, the Mother of God. As with any fast, this is a good time to spend reading scripture and other spiritual activities. Holy Qurbono will be conducted on Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm to conclude the fast and celebrate the Feast. May the prayers of the Holy Virgin Mary be upon us!

- 2018 Parish Picnic – Yesterday we held our annual picnic at Belmont Lake State Park. It was a great day of fellowship, fun, and food. Special thanks to Mr. Arun Joseph, Ms. Emily George, Mr. Manoj Varghese and everyone who spent hours preparing and cooking the food and making arrangements so that we could all get together and enjoy one another’s company.

- 2018 Parish Perunal– Our Parish Perunal will be held on Friday, July 6th and Saturday July 7th. Friday evening we will evening prayer followed by a devotional address. Saturday morning at 8am we will begin morning prayer followed by Holy Qurbana. All are requested to attend.
- 2018 Parish Picnic – This year’s picnic will be held on Saturday July 14th, 2018 at Belmont State Park. We encourage all members to participate on this day of fellowship.
- Half-Yearly Dues – just a friendly reminder that first six months of the year are over, please see the Treasurer to review any outstanding dues.
- Passing of Mr. P.I. John – Mr. P.I John passed away last Tuesday, June 19th, and funeral services were conducted on Saturday, June 23rd. Please keep the bereaving family in your prayers.
- Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul – Holy Qurbana for the end of the fast and to celebrate the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul will be held on Thursday, June 28th at 6:30 pm.
- Basketball Tournament – The STYL Presents: Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament is coming up next Saturday at Island Garden Gym. As every year, the success of this tournament is due to the combined efforts of not only the youth and FOCUS, but also the parents, so the presence and support of all church members are kindly requested.
- Tournament Meeting – The day before the tournament, Friday, June 29th, there will be a meeting at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Cherian Abraham at 7 pm. This will be our last meeting before the actual tournament so it is especially important that all youth members make an effort to attend.
- STYL BBQ – As every year, we will be having a youth barbecue the day after the tournament. This year it will be at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Juby Thomas on Sunday, July 1st at 2 pm.

- Apostles Lent – We are now in the season of Lent of the Holy Apostles. Let us spend time in reading the scriptures, in fasting as well as prayer. Holy Qurbana for the end of the fast and for the celebration the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul will be held on Thursday, June 28th at 6:30 pm.
- Blood Drive –The blood drive was held here, at the church, yesterday and people from this parish as well as the community came out to donate. Around 17 pints of blood were collected which could save up to 51 lives! Special thanks to all those who came to donate and volunteer!

The theme for this year’s camp is “Trust the Process” and it will be led by the main speaker, Rev. Fr. Mat Alexander. The cost for this camp is $125 and registration must be completed online by June 30th. For more information please see Ms. Sonia Joseph or Mr. Joshua Mathew.

- Passing of Mrs. Rahelamma Varghese – With great sadness we regret to inform of the passing of Mrs. Rahelamma Varghese, the mother of Mrs. Elizabeth Panicker and Mr. Solomon Varghese. She is survived by her nine children and their families. The funeral service will be conducted next Tuesday in India. Please keep the bereaving family in your prayers.
- FOCUS Meeting – the next FOCUS meeting will be held on the coming Friday, June 15 at 7pm at the residence of Mr. Bills & Nancy Varghese. All FOCUS members are kindly requested to attend.
