Weekly Announcements – 10/27/2019

  1. Flu Shot Clinic – We will be hosting a flu shot clinic in conjunction with Walgreens after service next Sunday November 3rd. Anyone who has not yet been vaccinated can receive the flu shot for free that day. In order to assure we have enough supplies we kindly request that you sign up in advance if you need the vaccine. Please see Mr. Joshua Mathew or Mrs. Sini Jablonski to sign up today. Also as an additional service the MMVS will be conducting blood pressure readings and glucose readings. 
  2. Christmas Caroling Practice – We will be having our first Christmas Caroling practice starting on Nov. 9th after Evening Prayer.  All members are requested to participate.
  3. Feast of St. Geevarghese Mar Gregorios (Parumala Thriumeni’s Perunal) – Will be celebrated next Sunday Nov. 3rd.  Special thanks to all the people that offered to bring food for the feast day.  For those who didn’t get a chance to offer food are more than welcome to offer some money to cover other expenses.
  4. MGOCSM Missions Raffle – In order to raise funds for the missions trip, the MGOCSM is selling raffle tickets for only $10 each. The first prize is an Apple MacBook, second prize is a 55″ Samsung TV and third prize is a pair of apple airpods. To purchase a ticket or for more information, kindly see Ms. Ruth Abraham or Ms. Sonia Joseph. 
  5. House Visit Coordinator – Mr. T.P Mathews was selected as the new house visit coordinator, and he will be reaching out to the families to coordinate house visits with the Clergy.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 10/20/2019

  1. Passing of Mr. Alexander Thomas – the father of Mrs. Susan Joseph passed earlier this week in India. He was 80 years old. Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.

Weekly Announcements – 10/13/2019

  1. MMVS Annual Conference- Special thanks to all the volunteers, both men and women, who helped yesterday with the MMVS Conference.  Without your help it would not have been a success.
  2. Breaking the Silence– The MGOCSM, MMVS and GROW ministries of the Brooklyn Queens Long Island Area present Breaking the Silence, a mental health awareness workshop addressing stress and anxiety. It will be held Saturday, October 19th from 9 am to 3 pm at St. Gregorios Elmont church. Registration is $10 and can be completed online. Kindly refer to the church website for the flyer with more information. 
  3. MGOCSM Meeting– There will be a youth meeting next Sunday 4 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. KS Georgekutty. All youth members are requested to attend. 
  4. General Body Meeting – as announced earlier there will be a General Body meeting held next Sunday, Oct. 20th, after Holy Qurbana.  We will be holding elections for year 2020 at this meeting.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 10/06/2019

  1. Passing of Mrs. Kunjamma Mathai – the mother of Mr. George P. Mathai and Mr. Samuel P. Mathai yesterday in India. She was 97 years old. The family will be traveling to India this week for the funeral on Thursday. Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  2. MMVS Annual Conference – the annual MMVS will be taking place next Saturday, Oct 12th, at our parish. Please reach out to the MMVS members to see how you can assist on the day.

Weekly Announcements – 09/22/19

  2. Car Wash – Two weeks ago, the FOCUS hosted a car wash and bazaar fundraiser. Special thanks to all those who made food or donated their valuables to sell, those who spent hours washing cars, and especially to Mrs. Sini Jablonski, FOCUS secretary, for leading this event. Through these efforts, the FOCUS was able to fundraise over $2,000 for the parish. 
  3. Sandwich Sale – Next Sunday the youth will be hosting a sandwich fundraiser in the basement after service. Sandwiches will be only $5 and meals for $8. Everyone is kindly requested to support and youth members who are available to help assemble sandwiches are asked to please come to church on Saturday at 4:00 pm. 
  4. GROW Roundtable – On Saturday, 9/28 from 9am-12pm, the GROW BQLI Roundtable will host Part 2 of their “Wonder Women” faith series at St. Gregorios Cherry Lane Church. The focus will be on exploring life stories and lessons from strong women of the Bible/saints. This will be a great opportunity to learn about exemplary women such as Ruth, Deborah, Esther and their parallels to our lives. Lijin (Kochamma) Thomas will be the main speaker. A crafty activity and lunch will be provided. The registration fee for this event will be $10.  Please register at http://tinyurl.com/BQLIWonderWomen

  1. Annual MMVS Conference Registration – today is the last day to give the reduced registration fee of $20 for the annual MMVS Conference. After today it goes to $25. Mrs. Sandhya Stephen will be collecting it today in the basement during lunch.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 9/8/2019

  1. Baby Boy – Mr. & Mrs. Joseph & Premna John were blessed with a baby boy, Lucas Joseph, this week. Please keep the baby and the family in your prayers.
  2. Passing of Mr. Varghese Pothachen – the father-in-law of Mr. Cheriyan Abraham and father of Mrs. Susan Cheriyan passed earlier this week.  Please keep the bereaving family in your prayers.
  3. Sunday School – First day of Sunday School classes will begin next Sunday, September 15th. Please have all children attend to receive their materials for the upcoming School year. Please keep the Sunday School ministry in your prayers.

Weekly Announcements – 09/01/2019

  1. Car Wash – The FOCUS and MGOCSM are working together to organize a car wash and sale in order to fundraise for the parish. It is planned for next Sunday September 8th from 1 to 5 pm. All church members are requested to support this venture in order to ensure its success. There will be food items for sale as well as clothing or household items in good condition. If you are interested in donating items please contact Ms. Sini Jablonski no later than this Friday. If you are able to make a food item to sale please contact Emily George.
  2. Sunday School Talent Competition – Talent Competitions will be held on Sunday, September 8th, after Qurbana. Please see Mrs. Leena Palakkaddan or Sunday School Principal for details.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS — 08/25/19

  1. Parish Picnic – The 2019 Parish Picnic will be held next Saturday, August 31st, at Belmont Lake State Park. We will meet at the park at 9AM and all members are requested to bring breakfast. Lunch will be cooked at the park.
  2. School Supply DriveThe youth will be collecting school supplies this month to donate to those in need through the Glen Cove Youth Bureau. Kindly support this drive by placing new supplies in the box downstairs. 
  3. Car Wash The FOCUS and MGOCSM are working together to organize a car wash and sale in order to fundraise for the parish. It is planned for Sunday September 8th from 1 to 5 pm.
