Weekly Announcements – 09/25/2022

  1. 2022 Graduates – All students who graduated from high school or college in 2022 are requested to submit their names to the Secretary at the earliest.
  2. 1st Day of Sunday School- The kids were excited to get back to their classes and they all enjoyed the ice cream truck!
  3. Sunday School Trip – our Sunday School took a trip to the Queen County Farm.

Weekly Announcements – 02/28/21

  1. Happy Birthday Achen! – Happy 85th birthday to our dear Achen, Very Rev. Dr. Mathai Yohannan Sankarathil Cor-Episcopa, on behalf of the parish. 
  2. MGOCSM Area Lenten Retreat – The MGOCSM of BQLI will be hosting the area lenten retreat on Friday, March 5th at 7pm via Zoom. The theme will be “Conquering Temptations” based on St. Matthew 6:13. Please register with the following link: tinyurl.com/bqlilentenretreat2021
  3. Education Day 2021 – On Saturday, March 6th at 3pm, the Sunday School ministry will be hosting its annual Education Day. The theme is from 2 Corinthians 12:10, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” The guest speaker will be Fr. Joel Mathew from Dallas, TX. In addition to speaking, he will be leading a group for those who are in MGOCSM. All Sunday School children and MGOCSM members are asked to register and attend! Please contact Ansue Koshy for any details/questions.
  4. Holy Qurbana Sign-Up – To sign up for Sunday, March 7th, the deadline is Wednesday, March 3rd. Please do so as soon as possible; once capacity has been reached, exceptions can not be made. If you sign up, be sure to come for service by 8:30am; doors will be closed after that time. Also, masks must be properly worn for all services.
  5. General Body Meeting – There will be a General Body meeting held on Sunday, March 14th at 3:30pm via Zoom.  The 2021 Annual Budget will be discussed at this meeting.  The budget and instructions were sent to the parish members. If you have not received the 2021 Annual Budget, please email treasurer@stthomasli.org.
  6. Holy Week Donation – All members are kindly requested to make a donation of $100 for Holy Week. Please give your donation to the Treasurer as soon as possible.
  7. Annual Subscriptions/Dues/Donations – Members are also requested to begin payment on your annual subscriptions, dues owed and any donations you wish to provide.  Due to the limitations in services and our current financial situation, earlier payment would be graciously appreciated.
  8. 2020 Christmas Donations – For those who have inquired about handing in last year’s christmas donations.  You are still welcome to donate for the previous year.  Please notify the Treasurer at your earliest convenience, if you wish to do so.

Weekly Announcements – 01/26/2020

  1. Passing of Mrs. Mariyamma Mathew – the aunt of Mr. Shibu Thomas, last Monday.  Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  2. Sunday School Education Day – The Sunday School will be hosting Education Day for all sunday school students on Saturday, Feb 8th, from 2 to 6pm. Rev. Fr. Andrew Daniel will be our guest speaker. Please remember to give in your $5 registration fee to Amy George or Danniya Samuel.
  3. Ordering More Holy Qurbana Books – If you would like to order Holy Qurbana or Common Prayer books, please stop by the office to submit your name and requested quantity to the Secretary, along with payment to the Treasurer. The cost of each book is $25.

  1. Monthly Committee Meeting – There will be a monthly scheduled Committee Meeting next Sunday, January 26th, after Holy Qurbana. All Committee Members are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Education Day – The Sunday School will be hosting Education Day for all sunday school students on Saturday, February 8th, from 2 to 6pm. Rev. Fr. Andrew Daniel will be our guest speaker. There is a $5 registration fee. Please see Amy George or Danniya Samuel for further details.

Weekly Announcements – 11/17/2019

  1. General Body Meeting – as announced earlier, there will be a General Body meeting held on, Nov. 24th, after Holy Qurbana.  We will be discussing the 2020 Annual Budget at this meeting. All members can pick up a copy of the proposed 2020 Budget in the office today.
  2. Christmas Caroling Practice – we will be having our 4th Christmas Caroling practice on Sunday, Nov. 24th at 4pm.  All members are requested to participate.
  3. Thanksgiving Potluck– The annual youth and FOCUS Thanksgiving potluck will be held on Friday November 29th, 6:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Sini Jablonski. Please refer to the sign up sheet posted on GroupMe and sign up at your earliest. 
  4. MGOCSM Annual Thanksgiving Conference – The MGOCSM of the NE American Diocese will be holding it one day conference on Saturday, Nov. 30th at St. Stephen’s Orthodox Church of Midland Park, NJ from 8:30AM to 5PM. The main speaker for the conference will Dn. Alexander (Pradeep) Hatcher.  MGOCSM members please see the flyer below for more details on how you can register.
  5. MGOCSM Missions Raffle- As announced previously, the MGOCSM is selling raffle tickets for $10  to fundraise for the missions trip. Next Sunday is the last day to purchase tickets, so kindly see Ms. Ruth Abraham or Mr. Swagath Thomas to purchase one and support the missions trip today. 
  6. MGOCSM Meeting– There will be a youth meeting on Sunday December 1st, 4 pm, at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Vinod Abraham. All MGOCSM members are requested to attend. 
  7. Sunday School Announcements:
    • Sunday, November 24th – In lieu of regular classes, there will be a “Sunday School Crafts Day,” for all the Sunday School children. All Sunday School children are requested to be present.

Weekly Announcements – 06/16/2019

  1. Parish Perunal – the Parish Perunal will take place on July 5th and 6th. Please see the flyer below for more details.
  2. Sunday School Assigned Competition -SS Final Exams will be conducted today after refreshments. The church level assigned competition will be held on June 23rd. All sunday school students are encouraged to participate, all topics are posted downstairs. Please see Principal or Asst. Principal for more details.
  3. Council of Churches – there will be a Council of Churches representative meeting scheduled for next Sunday June 23rd at 3:30PM, at St. Johns Orthodox Church, Bellerose. All of our Council of Churches representatives are requested to attend this meeting.
  4. Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament 2019- This year the STYL Presents: Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held on Saturday July 13th at Island Garden Basketball Gym. As in years past, all church members are kindly requested to support this event by purchasing tickets from youth members and attending the event.
  5. FYC 2019 – a few last minute spots are available for 2019 Family & Youth Conference(July 17th-20th). If anyone is interested in attending please contact the coordinators at familyandyouthconference@gmail.com or visit https://www.fyconf.org/registration.
  6. Text Messages from Church – we send our regular text messages about events happening at church. If anyone is not receiving them please come to the office to sign up.

Weekly Announcements – 06/09/2019

  1. St. Stephens Raffle – all members who participated in the raffle from St. Stephens Orthodox Church are kindly requested to give the contributions to our Treasurer.
  2. MMVS Diabetics Education Seminar – the MMVS is conducting an informational seminar on diabetics education on June 15th @ 4pm at the church.  They will be going over the basics of the disease and how to manage it.
  3. MMVS Raffle Drive – MMVS is conducting a raffle to help with their charity activities.  Please support them and in this effort.
  4. Sunday School Assigned Competition – the church level assigned competition will be held on on June 23rd. All Sunday school students are encouraged to participate, all topics are posted downstairs. Please see Principal or Asst. Principal for more details.
  5. End of Sunday School Year – Final Exams will be held on June 16th.
  6. AGNI Middle School Camp –  Northeast American Diocese will host “AGNI: Ablaze for the Lord” camp for Middle School students from August 8-10, 2019 at Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. The main speakers are Rev. Fr. Shawn Thomas and Mrs. Lijin Thomas. Eligible participants are children ages 10-14. For more information please contact Fr. Sujit Thomas, Diocesan Secretary. WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 11/18/2018

  1. MGOCSM Thanksgiving Conference — The Annual MGOCSM Thanksgiving Conference will be held on Saturday, November 24th at St. Gregorios Valley Stream from 10 AM- 5 PM. Registration is $10 and may be completed online.

  2. Thanksgiving Potluck — The annual MGOCSM and FOCUS Thanksgiving Potluck will be held at church next Sunday, November 25th, at 4 pm. Please sign up to bring a food item to share!

  3. Vans from Queens/Nassau Area for Evening Prayer — We are thinking about starting a van service to bring members to evening prayer on Saturdays.  If you are interested please give your name to Dr. Sunil George. If there is enough demand for this service we will make arrangements for this regularly.

  4. 2018 Christmas Caroling — This year’s Christmas Caroling will take place the weekend of Dec. 15th. To ensure we have enough transportation, everyone that is interested please give your names in the office.

  5. 3rd Christmas Caroling Practice — The next Christmas Carol Practice will be held on next Saturday, 11/24 at 4:00 pm. All members are requested to attend to make it a success.

  6. General Body Meeting – there will be a General Body meeting held on Dec. 2nd, 2018 for Election Of Office Bearers for 2019. All members are requested to attend this meeting. All dues are posted downstairs TODAY, please review it and if needed talk to the Treasurer.  

  7. 2018 Talent Show — The annual talent show will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 30th, 2018.  All who are interested in participating please reach out to the Sunday School Principal, Mr. Shibu Thomas.

Weekly Announcements – 11/11/2018

  1. MGOCSM Thanksgiving Conference — The Annual MGOCSM Thanksgiving Conference will be held on Saturday, November 24th at St. Gregorios Valley Stream from 10 AM- 5 PM. Registration is $10 and may be completed online.
  2. Winter Summit — As announced previously, this year’s Winter Summit for college and post-graduate students will be held at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center from December 26th – 29th. The absolute last day to register is this Wednesday, November 14th. Fees for the camp are now $150 and registration must be completed online. For more information please see Ms. Angel Sunny.
  3. Vans from Queens/Nassau Area for Evening Prayer — We are thinking about starting a van service to bring members to evening prayer on Saturdays.  If you are interested please give your name to Dr. Sunil George. If there is enough demand for this service we will make arrangements for this regularly.

  1. MGOCSM Drive — The MGOCSM is hosting a drive to support Kids Change the World, an organization that works to support young children in need around the world. Please place children’s books and plastic grocery bags you would like to donate in the marked box downstairs.
  2. MGOCSM Meeting — The next youth meeting will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018, 5:30 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Sunny P. Chacko. All youth members are kindly requested to attend.
