Weekly Announcements – 10/13/2019

  1. MMVS Annual Conference- Special thanks to all the volunteers, both men and women, who helped yesterday with the MMVS Conference.  Without your help it would not have been a success.
  2. Breaking the Silence– The MGOCSM, MMVS and GROW ministries of the Brooklyn Queens Long Island Area present Breaking the Silence, a mental health awareness workshop addressing stress and anxiety. It will be held Saturday, October 19th from 9 am to 3 pm at St. Gregorios Elmont church. Registration is $10 and can be completed online. Kindly refer to the church website for the flyer with more information. 
  3. MGOCSM Meeting– There will be a youth meeting next Sunday 4 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. KS Georgekutty. All youth members are requested to attend. 
  4. General Body Meeting – as announced earlier there will be a General Body meeting held next Sunday, Oct. 20th, after Holy Qurbana.  We will be holding elections for year 2020 at this meeting.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 9/8/2019

  1. Baby Boy – Mr. & Mrs. Joseph & Premna John were blessed with a baby boy, Lucas Joseph, this week. Please keep the baby and the family in your prayers.
  2. Passing of Mr. Varghese Pothachen – the father-in-law of Mr. Cheriyan Abraham and father of Mrs. Susan Cheriyan passed earlier this week.  Please keep the bereaving family in your prayers.
  3. Sunday School – First day of Sunday School classes will begin next Sunday, September 15th. Please have all children attend to receive their materials for the upcoming School year. Please keep the Sunday School ministry in your prayers.

Weekly Announcements – 07/28/2019

  1. Dormition Lent – the Dormition Lent is being observed from August 1st-15th. All members are kindly requested to observe.
  2. Feast of Transfiguration – we will be celebrating Holy Qurbana for the Feast of Transfiguration next Monday at 6:30 PM. All members are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
  3. Parish Picnic – the 2019 Parish Picnic was originally scheduled for 7/20 but was postponed due to the Extreme Heat Advisory issued for Long Island on that day. The date for the 2019 Parish Picnic is Saturday, August 31st, and all members are requested to make arrangements to attend.
  4. MGOCSM Meeting– There will be a youth meeting on Sunday, August 11th, 4 pm at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Jibi & Rani Paul. All youth are requested to attend.
  5. FOCUS Meeting – There will be a FOCUS Meeting on Friday, August 2nd at the residence of Dr. & Mrs. Sunil & Amy George at 6:30 pm.
  6. OVBS – This year, our church will be hosting OVBS on August 16th and 17th (Friday and Saturday). The theme for this year’s OVBS is “Becoming Friends of Christ.” Registration for both days is only $10. You may register online by July 28th or at the registration table downstairs after service today. For more information, please contact Ms. Angel Sunny.

Weekly Announcements – 05/19/2019

  1. MGOCSM Charity Event – On Sunday May 26th, Memorial Day weekend, the youth will be preparing dinner for the families at the Ronald McDonald house of Long Island. If you are available to help out that day between 3 and 6 pm please sign up at your earliest using the link on GroupMe or the church website: tinyurl.com/RMD-STLI.
  2. MMVS Announcements
    • MMVS Annual Conf –  will be held on Oct. 12th, 2019 in Philadelphia.  All who are interested are requested to reach out to the MMVS members to register for the conference.  The cost of transport to the conference will be subsidized this year, for more details please reach out to MMVS members.
    • Diabetics Education Seminar – the MMVS is conducting an informational seminar on diabetics education on June 15th @ 4pm at the church.  They will be going over the basics of the disease and how to manage it.
  3. Monthly Prayer Meeting – the monthly prayer meeting will take place next Sunday, May 26th @ 6PM at the residence of Mr. Sunny P. Chacko.
  4. Monthly Committee Meeting – there will be a monthly scheduled Committee Meeting next Sunday, May 26th after Holy Qurbana. All committee members are kindly requested to attend.

Weekly Announcements – 04/07/2019

  1. 40th Day of Lent – This Thursday, April 11th, we will be having Holy Qurbana at 6:30PM for the 40th Day of Lent. All members are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Holy Week Schedule – Please take a look at the Holy Week Schedule in the back.  It will also be posted downstairs and on the parish website.
  3. Parish Lenten Retreat – We will be having our parish Lenten Retreat next Saturday, April 13th. Confession will start at 10AM and the retreat message will be from 3PM onwards.
  4. CPK Fundraiser – There will be a fundraiser for our parish at the California Pizza Kitchen in Westbury on Friday April 26th. 20% of the profits from all dine-in and take-out sales that day will be donated back to our parish once you show them our flyer. FOCUS and youth members are also encouraged to join for a fellowship dinner at the restaurant at 7 pm. Please see the flyer which will be posted on our church website for more information.
  5. Holy Week Donation – All members are kindly requested to make a donation of $100 to help meet the expenses for Holy Week, the contribution list is posted in the basement for your convenience. Kindly give your donation to the Treasurer as soon as possible.
  6. FOCUS Seminar – Our parish is hosting a one day seminar on Kind & Careful Online Communication for Parents.  The seminar will be held on May 4th, from 9:30am to 12:30pm at our parish hall. This seminar will be open to all parents of all ages and friends of the parish to learn about guiding our children through the ever-changing world of technology and social media.  Please reach out to FOCUS members regarding registering for this seminar.
  7. FOCUS Meeting – There will be a FOCUS Meeting on Friday, April 12th at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Ajit & Rebu Thomas at 6:30pm.
  8. FYC 2019 Souvenir – Anyone that is contributing towards the FYC 2019 Souvenir please bring all related materials to Mrs. Rosemary Yohannan at the earliest.
  9. Talmeedo Men’s Retreat – will be taking place at HTRC from June 16-22, 2019, and the theme for this year’s group, the Beta Class, is “Passions and Virtues”.  For those interested in registering kindly refer to the link tinyurl.com/talmeedo2019 and please see Mr. Joshua Mathew for any questions.

Weekly Announcements – 02/24/2019

  1. Refreshments During Great Lent – Great is approaching, and once again the MMVS is willing to cater food for the parish every Sunday during Great Lent, for the small donation of $600. Please contact Mrs. Mary Varghese for this opportunity.
  2. Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament – This year the STYL Presents: Anil John Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held at the Island Garden Basketball Gym on July 13, 2019. This is the 18th year that the youth will be organizing this event and participation is requested from all church members to ensure it is a success.

Weekly Announcements – 01/27/2019

  1. The Feast of Lord’s Entry into The Temple(Mayaltho) – The Feast will be celebrated next Saturday, Feb. 2nd and Holy Qurbana will start at 8am. All members are kindly requested to attend.
  2. Basketball Tournament Meeting– The first meeting for this year’s basketball tournament will be held next Sunday after Sunday School in the balcony. All youth members are encouraged to attend this meeting and actively participate in the planning of this event.
  3. MMVS Announcements
    1. Upcoming Charity Drives – They are planning to continue to donate care supplies (toothpaste, toothbrush cream and such) for Valentines Day. In March there will be a food drive they are looking for grains, oil, pasta and such items to feed the less fortunate.  Anyone interested can donate towards the cause.
    2. MMVS Membership – MMVS has a membership fee of $25, all members are requested to give this as soon as possible.
  4. Baby Boy – Mr. & Mrs. Koshy Panicker were blessed with a baby boy Nicholas George Panicker this week. Please keep the baby and the family in your prayers.
  5. General Body Meeting – There will General Body meeting held on Feb. 10, 2019.  All members are kindly requested to attend this meeting.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS – 12/16/2018

  1. The Feast of St. Thomas- will be held on this Thursday, December 20th at 6:30pm. If any who wishes to bring nercha for that day you may do so.
  2. Christmas Service: Monday, 24th evening at 6:30, we will have Christmas evening prayer. 25th Morning, service will begin at 7am.
  3. MGOCSM Meeting- There will be elections for next year’s youth committee after service on December 30th. All youth members are requested to attend this meeting, especially if they are interested in serving on the committee for 2019.
  4. 2018 Family Night/Talent Show – The annual talent show will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 30th 2018 at 4 pm.  The Talent Show is open to all who are interested in participating. If you would like to show your talents, please reach out to the Sunday School Principal, Mr. Shibu Thomas or Emily George. The deadline for submitting programs is today.
    • In addition, we will be providing dinner to all participants and guests. If you would like to donate for the dinner, please see Mrs. Lali Daniel or Mr. Nevin Joseph
  5. 2018 Contributions – members should give all contributions for 2018 before 12/30/2018.
  6. Committee Meeting – There will be a 2018 Committee Meeting next Sunday 12/23/2018 after Holy Qurbana.  All 2018 Committee Members are requested to attend.
    • There will be a 2019 Committee Meeting on Saturday 12/29/2018 at 4pm at the church.  All 2019 Committee Members are requested to attend that meeting.

Weekly Announcements – 12/2/2018

    1. Memorial for Barnabas Thirumeni — Barnabas Thirumeni’s Orma is next Sunday, Dec 9th, 2018.  If anyone would like to bring nercha or donate food on that day please see the Secretary or give your name in the office.
    2. MGOCSM meeting — In lieu of a traditional MGOCSM meeting this month, there will be a Q&A session via Google Hangout this Friday, December 7th at 6 pm. All MGOCSM & FOCUS members are encouraged to join the conversation via the link which will also be posted on GroupMe.
    3. Kids Change the World Drive — Just a friendly reminder that the MGOCSM is collecting plastic bags and children’s books for the Kids Change the World organization. These will be used to give local families in need food and supplies for the holidays. Please bring in plastic shopping bags and place them in the collection box downstairs.
    4. 2018 Talent Show — The annual talent show will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 30th, 2018.  The Talent Show is open to all who are interested in participating. If you would like to show your talents, please reach out to the Sunday School Principal, Mr. Shibu Thomas. The deadline for submitting programs is Dec. 16th.
    5. Christmas Caroling — Our Christmas Caroling program will on the days of December 15th, 16th, and 22nd.  Please see the Secretary to see details on when the carolers will come to your house.

  2. General Body Meeting – there will be a General Body meeting held on next Sunday, Dec. 2nd, 2018 for Election Of Office Bearers for 2019.  All members are requested to attend this meeting. The latest contributions are posted downstairs, and everyone is asked to review it.
  3. 2018 Talent Show – The annual talent show will be held this year on Sunday, Dec. 30th, 2018.  The Talent Show is open to all who are interested in participating.
