  1. Eternal Rest for His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II – Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan. Let us keep our departed Bava Thirumeni in our prayers. May the memory of Thirumeni be eternal.
  2. Passing of Mr. Sankarathil G. George – the grandfather of Mrs. Tigi Abraham, Saturday in Konni, India. He was 103 years old. The funeral took place Sunday. Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  3. Housekeeping Request – Reminder, for those who have forgotten their jackets at church, please be sure to collect them in the next few weeks. The unclaimed coats will eventually be donated.
  4. **Virtual Memorial Meeting for His Holiness – The Northeast American Diocese will be hosting a virtual memorial meeting in honor of His Holiness, Sunday, July 18th at 8pm through Zoom, with various special guest speakers.  Meeting ID: 82597747654 & Passcode: 166737
  5. **Combined Monthly Retreat & Prayer Day – The Council of Indian Orthodox Churches of Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island will be conducting a condolence meeting for Bava Thirumeni prior to its scheduled monthly retreat and prayer-day, starting at 6:30pm on Sunday, July 18th via Zoom.  Rev. Weekly Announcements – 06/27/2021

  1. Parish Perunal – Reminder, we will be celebrating our Parish Perunal with evening prayer on Fri, July 2nd at 6:30pm and Holy Qurbana on Sat, July 3rd at 8am.  All members are kindly requested to make a donation of $100 for the perunal.  Please give your donation to the Treasurer this week.  The form to sign-up for Holy Qurbana on Saturday, has been sent out for those who wish to participate.  Be sure to register as soon as possible, so that there is an accurate headcount for food.
  2. Phases of Reopening – As NY lifts restrictions, we will begin to open up the church in phases.  Starting with Holy Qurbana on July 4th, there will no longer be a sign-up process and guests are welcome to attend.  100% capacity will be allowed in the sanctuary and lobby.  However, everyone is still required to wear masks at all times.  We also ask that families still sit together and try to maintain a seat or two distance from each other.  Kaimuth will go back to the normal process.  General absolution will remain in place.  The basement will not be opened for full use yet and there will be no post-church activities.  We will continue to lift restrictions, phase by phase.

Weekly Announcements – 06/13/2021

  1. The Fast of the Twelve Apostles (13-day Lent) – The 13-day Lent begins this Wed, June 16th till the 29th. All members are kindly requested to observe. 
  2. Annual Diocesan Assembly of the Northeast American Diocese – The Annual Diocesan Assembly of our Diocese will be held on Sat, June 19th, at our parish.  Please keep the Diocesan Assembly in your prayers.

Combined Monthly Retreat & Prayer Day – The Council of Indian Orthodox Churches of Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island will be conducting its monthly retreat and prayer-day Sun, June 20th at 7pm through Zoom.  Rev. Fr. George Cherian (Dileep Achen), Vicar of St. John’s, Bellerose, NY,  will be the main speaker.

Weekly Announcements – 05/31/2021

  1. Two Service Notifcations –
    • Please be sure to follow the direction of committee members and sit where you are directed. Due to limitations of seating, with requirements to maintain 6 feet distance, it is important that everyone follows the instructions provided.
    • A reminder, we ask that everyone arrives by 8:30am. Please be mindful that the committee members are waiting to seat everyone and it is also a distraction to the congregation once Qurbana begins.

  1. MGOCSM Meeting There will be a youth meeting held Sunday, May 30th at 4:30pm.  All youth members are kindly requested to attend.  Please refer to GroupMe for the Zoom link.
  2. MMVS Food Drive – Reminder that the MMVS of this parish, along with the BQLI area, will be collecting canned goods and dried food to help those who are in need due to the pandemic.  For those who wish to donate, there will be a box located in the lobby until Sunday, May 30th.

  1. Feast of Pentecost will be celebrated Sunday, May 23rd.  Lilio prayer will begin at 7am and morning prayer at 7:30am.  H.G. Zachariah Nickolovas will be conducting Holy Qurbana at the parish for his annual visit.  The form to sign up for Sunday’s service was sent out as a link via text message on Monday. 
  2. Monthly Prayer Meeting – This month’s online prayer meeting will be held Sunday, May 23rd at 4:30PM for the entire parish via Zoom.  The link will be texted out later this week.

Weekly Announcements – 04/18/2021

  1. Monthly Prayer Meeting – We will begin our monthly video interactive prayer meetings again. The next meeting will be Sunday, April 25th at 4:30PM for the entire parish via Zoom. The link will be sent out later this week.
  2. Holy Qurbana Sign-Up – The form to sign up for Sunday’s service was sent out as a link via text message on Monday. Once we have reached capacity, the form will be closed and the link will not work. Each household should sign up only once. You will see a confirmation on the next page after you submit. If you have any questions, please contact the Secretary.
  3. Housekeeping Request – Before entering the sanctuary, please place your shoes on the shelves, rather than the floor. It will provide more space and cause less congestion during dismissal, especially if there is food handed out.

  1. Passing of Mr. Thomas Philip – the father-in-law of Mrs. Shina Sunny, daughter of Mr. Sunnymon George on Saturday morning in Rockland County, NY.  He was 59 years old.  Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  2. Holy Week Donation – Thank you to all the members who donated $100 to help meet the expenses for Holy Week.  Special thanks to Dr. Paul Thottathil for donating the palm leaves for Palm Sunday.
  3. Weekly Announcements – 03/21/2021

  1. Passing of Mrs. Aleyamma Cherian – the mother of Mrs. Binta Cherian, on Tuesday morning in Franklin Square, NY.  She was 70 years old.  The funeral took place Friday morning.  Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  2. Passing of Mrs. Marykutty Cherian – the elder sister-in-law of Mr. TP Mathew, Friday morning in Mezhuveli, Kerala.  She was 92 years old.  The funeral took place on Monday.  Please keep the bereaved family in your prayers.
  3. Holy Week Sign-Up – Sign-up for Holy Week services began this week.  As with the previous two sign-ups, a link was sent out via text message on Monday.  Once we have reached capacity, the form will be closed and the link will not work.  If you have any questions, please contact the Secretary.
    1. Please note that the sign-up will be allowed for only members during Holy Week services.  This is due to the limited capacity and to ensure that our members have a fair opportunity to sign up.  If there is space available after this week, it will be opened to guests.  For now, please sign up for your household members only.
  4. Mid-Week Services – There will be changes to the scheduled mid-week services, for this week.  Updates will be provided in the coming days.
  5. Parish Lenten Retreat Messages – Our 2nd Parish Lenten Retreat (Malayalam) scheduled for this Saturday, March 27th at 4:30pm via Zoom, has been cancelled.
  6. Combined Lenten Retreat – The Council of Indian Orthodox Churches of Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island’s one-day lenten retreat on Saturday, March 27th at 10am through Zoom, has been cancelled.
  7. Holy Week Donation – Just a friendly reminder that all members are kindly requested to make a donation of $100 for Holy Week.  Please give your donation to the Treasurer as soon as possible.
