Feast of the Dormition of St. Mary — The end of the Dormition Fast and its Feast will be celebrated this Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm. All are kindly requested to attend.
MGOCSM & FOCUS trip — Members will be taking a trip to the Monastery of Saint Dionysios the Areopagite on August 25th. A link for the event with details will be sent out on the GroupMe for both FOCUS and Youth. All members are invited to attend this spiritual outing.
General Body Meeting — The half-yearly General Body meeting will take place next Sunday, August 19th after Holy Qurbana. Please come to the parish office to pick up documents for the meeting. Please remember to bring back the documents when you come to the General Body meeting next Sunday.
Sunday School Announcements —
Sunday school classes will start again on September 2nd after Holy Qurbana.
Sunday School parish level talent competitions will be held on September 9th after Holy Qurbana. Please give the name of the participants to the principal or the assistant principal.
Sunday School area level competition will be held on September 22nd Saturday at St. Mary’s West Sayville church
If any of the parish members who have the time, motivation, and are willing to teach next year’s Sunday school classes please contact principal or Asst. Principal
MMVS Annual Conference — This year MMVS annual conference will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at St. Thomas Orthodox Church Philadelphia, Unruh Ave. The registration and the bus fare cost is $50. Those who interested in attending can contact Mrs. Mary Varghese, Mrs. Sandya Thomas, or Mrs. Usha Sam at your earliest convenience.
St. Mary’s West Sayville Perunal — St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, West Sayville will be celebrating their perunal August 17th & 18th (Friday and Saturday). All those who are available kindly make arrangements to attend. Please see the flyer posted on the parish website for more details.
Council of Indian Orthodox Churches Convention — The annual Council of Indian Orthodox Churches convention will take place at Our Lady of Snows Church on Sept. 14-16 at 6:30 pm. All those who are available during those days are kindly requested to make arrangements to attend.
St. John’s Orthodox Church, Bellerose Blood Drive — St. John’s Orthodox Church in Bellerose will be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, August 18th from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. If anyone didn’t get a chance to donate blood during our blood drive, here is another opportunity to do so. Please see the flyer posted on the parish website for more details.
Silver Jubilee Celebration — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church will be hosting a banquet for the Episcopal Silver Jubilee of our beloved Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos. The formal banquet will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 26, 2018, at The Greentree Country Club. We have Diocesan Council members here today, selling tickets for the event. Please the Secretary to buy tickets.
High School & College Graduates — all students or parents of students graduating from High School or College please give your names to the Secretary.
Agni: Ablaze for the Lord Middle School Camp — The Northeast American Diocese hosted a middle school camp from August 9-11 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center. There were 38 participants from all over the diocese. During the camp, the students played games, made friends, and learned about Purification, Illumination, and Deification. We hope that we can have all of our middle school students participate in this great camp next year!
